Alaskan Independence Party: The Last Refuge of a Scoundrel
It is a bit telling that both McCain and Palin are going this route. Maybe they need to re-read their Bible especially the part about bearing false witness

Younger Military Families Closing Ranks Around Obama
I am glad to see many of the military not going along with the blatant lies of the McCain camp.
We should all be wary of people who try to divide a country rather than unite it Obama has always supported our military and anyone can check his voting record to find out. I would advise all people to look up the Senate votes online for Obama and McCain, you can clearly see who has voted for and against things and also who has repeated missed votes.
Out here there is an advertisement taking Obama to task for missing some votes but I find it so hypocritical since McCain has actually missed far more. I believe (and it is public record) that McCain has missed the most votes in the Senate.
Do your homework. McCain is boldly repeating many lies and misstatements even after being factchecked on them by many non-partisan organizations as well as papers.

R.I.P. Nick Reynolds (member of Kingston Trio)
Kingston Trio member dies aged 75
Nick Reynolds, a founding member of the Kingston Trio - who spearheaded the US folk music revival of the late 1950s, has died in San Diego at the age of 75.
The musician had been in hospital with acute respiratory disease. He died on Wednesday after his family took him off life support, son Joshua Reynolds said.
The Kingston Trio's cover of the folk song Tom Dooley was a chart hit in 1958, and launched the band's career.
The Trio paved the way for artists such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.
"Dad was so happy he turned people onto music in a way that people could really approach it, in a simple and honest way," Josh Reynolds told The Associated Press

This song won't leave my mind
Solange's I Decided - here are the lyrics courtesy of elyricsworld.com
I Decided Lyrics
Ooooh
[spoken:]
Can't hear myself,
No00000
Can you please turn it up a little bit more
[verse 1:]
I was a little different;
I didnt do what the fast girls do!
Study my rhythm.....
Now you can speed me up when you want to
Oooh-oh
They were too cool to run the race
You kept the pace put the smile on your face
Go 'head baby (Go 'head baby)
Then I knew he was you (Then I know he was you)
But first you took me around introduced me to your family&friends
And told them how once we met that we would never lose
Oh Boy
I Decided
That you are the him for me
(I Decided)
Oh Boy
Because I decided
That you are the him for me
(yes you are)
Oh My Boy
How's it feel to win it?
When ain't no mountains that you can't move
Your mind is like a prism
For God's light to shine through
Oooh-ooh
They were too cool to run the race
You kept the pace put the smile on your face
Go 'head baby (yeaa) (Go 'head baby)
Then I knew it was you (Then I know it was you)
But first you took me around introduced me to your family&friends
And told them how once we met that we would never lose (never lose, never lose)
Oh Boy
I Decided
That you are the him for me
Oh Boy
Because,
I decided (I Decided)
That you are the him for me (You are the one for me baby yeah)
Oh My Boy (wow boy)
Running me runnin me down
Tellin me tell me wait
Runnin me down and telling me you are never gonna let go
It's the way you've got me (it's the way you got me when you got me baby.ohh now you got me baby )
Running me runnin me down (runnin)
Tellin me tell me wait (tellin me tell me you'll wai-heee)
Runnin me down & telling me you are never gonna let go
It's the way you've got me
baby
baby
baby
baby
babyyyeeee, woow
come here boy
dont break my heart
ooo
le'mme take it from you
(lemme take it from youuu)
baby
baby
baby
baby
babyyy, woow
(cuz were 1 ,and the closer i get to you)
(the more fearfull i become)
and that'll break me in two
(and that'll break me in two)
Because, I decided (I Decided)
That you are the him for me Oh My Boy (oh boy)
Running me runnin me down (runnin)
Tellin me tell me you'll wait (tellin me tell me you'll wai-heee)
Runnin me down telling me you'll wait
Never gonna let go
It's the way you got me
that's the way u
that's the way u got me baby
got me baby

The Barack Obama song of the Day
These are the lyrics to a Sam Harris song - Change is on the Way. Check out his page
CHANGE IS ON THE WAY
(A tribute to Barack Obama) Change -- Change -- Change
Change is on the way.
CHange -- Change -- Change
Change is on the way.
Baby, let me tell you,
I've been up, down,
kicked around,
head over heels.
I see your face,
you're the same way too.
You've been so low,
touch and go,
you know how it feels.
But, hey -- but, hey -- hey!
Listen to me, when I say...
That I feel...
-- Change!
It's in the air!
-- Change!
It's everywhere!
-- Change!
... and we aint gonna pass this way again.
-- Change!
So, take my hand,
-- Change!
and take a stand.
-- Change!
I know together, baby, we can win! Yes!
With a little faith.
-- Faith!
With a little hope.
-- With a little hope!
With a little joy.
Change is on the way!
With a little trust.
-- Trust!
With a little courage.
-- Courage!
In a little while...
Change is on the way!
CHange -- Change -- Change
Change is on the way.
CHange -- Change -- Change
Change is on the way.
Baby, it's a strange time.
We're on a rocky road, overload,
feeling confused.
I look around, and it blows my mind.
It's been so wrong, for so long.
I'm feeling abused.
But, hey -- but, hey -- hey!
Listen to me, when I say...
That I feel...
-- Change!
It's in the air!
-- Change!
It's everywhere!
-- Change!
... and we all have the freedom
to make the choice.
-- Change!
So, take my hand,
-- Change!
and take a stand.
-- Change!
Express yourself, baby. Raise your voice!
With a little faith.
-- Faith!
With a little hope.
-- With a little hope!
With a little joy.
Change is on the way!
With a little trust.
-- Trust!
With a little courage.
-- Courage!
In a little while...
Change is on the way!
We are strong enough,
to weather the road,
till the race has been won.
We can step into the sun.
I got to believe that!

Musicians and Politics - Barbara Streisand
Barbara Streisand has written a blog that is pretty well thought out. It is a good read and it provide DETAILS. Not just mindless statements but details with source information (which is always a big plus for me).
You can check out her blog at: http://www.barbrastreisand.com/index.php?page=statements&n_id=854
Here is just some of the information that she included:
John McCain on Veteran Affairs:
2006 Rating from Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America: D
Veterans Benefits
- May 2008: McCain is currently opposed to the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act (S 22), proposed by Senators Jim Webb and Chuck Hagel, to raise GI benefits to a level similar to those received by WWII vets. The maximum benefit would cover tuition for veterans for up to 4 years at the in-state public university level.
Troop Withdrawal
- September 2007: McCain voted against the Webb amendment calling for adequate troop rest between deployments.
- July 2007: McCain voted against a plan to draw down troop levels in Iraq.
- June 2006: McCain voted against a resolution that Bush start withdrawing troops that year, but did not state a deadline to do so.
Veteran Health Care
- May 2006: McCain voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs for health care facilities.
- April 2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans.
- March 2006: McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.
- March 2004: McCain voted against creating a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating abusive corporate tax loopholes.
Troop Armor
- October 2003: McCain voted to table an amendment that called for an additional $322 million for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq and to reduce the amount provided for reconstruction in Iraq by $322 million.
- April 2003: McCain urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts and tactical vests.

First Song of the Day: Monkey Majik ~ Around the World
I woke up humming this song so I had to go online and listen to it. The Youtube uploader even included the lyrics - thanks/arigato TecojobichiSensei
Every night I look to the skies and wonder what we did.
Always a naive point of view that breaks us in the end.
If I could find the meaning of it all I'd take the chance.
Maybe in time, we'll walk the mile a change it if we can.
It's now and always,
How did we get this far,
did we get this far, now?
Always,
We're making a brand new start,
just a brand new start, now.
Always,
Nothing can hold me down,
never hold me down, now.
Always,
Wave goodbye to me!
Around the world,
I'll find out why we came to be.
Around the world,
the secret lies in side of he.
Around the world,
I'll find the hero inside me.
But don't run away,
'cause if it's not okay,
I'll change that world,
into something better, honey.
Night after night, we take our time in searching for the clues,
All we can find our situations, hard times to be through.
But when we side together nothing can get in our way.
Using our minds to fight the odds, now watch me save the day.
It's now and always,
How did we get this far,
did we get this far, now?
Always,
We're making a brand new start,
just a brand new start, now.
Always,
Nothing will hold me down,
never hold me down, now.
Always,
Wave goodbye to me!
Around the world,
I'll find out why we came to be.
Around the world,
a secret lies in side of he.
Around the world,
I'll find the hero inside me.
But don't run away,
'cause if it's not okay,yeah.
And you know it's gonna be raining.
And you know it's gonna be hard. (Hard!)
As long as we trust each other,
nothing gonna break apart. Oh no! No!
If you wanna be somebody,
get up on your feet and go-o-o-o.
I know we're gonna meet each other,
somewhere around the globe!
Around the world,
I'll find out why we came to be.
Around the world,
the secret lies in side of he.
Around the world,
I'll find the hero inside me.
But don't run away,
'cause if it's not okay.
But don't run away,
'cause if it's not okay,
I'll change that world,
into something better, honey.

R.I.P. Richard Wright
I'm sure many or all of you know about the death of Richard Wright (Pink Floyd) today. Found this great tribute on Youtube (thanks to prompen3)
via Wikipedia:
Richard William Wright (28 July 1943 - 15 September 2008)[1] was a self-taught pianist and keyboardist best known for his long career with Pink Floyd. Though not as prolific a songwriter as his bandmates Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, he wrote significant parts of the music for classic albums such as Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, as well as for Pink Floyd's final studio album The Division Bell. Wright’s richly textured keyboard layers were a vital ingredient and a distinctive characteristic of Pink Floyd's sound. In addition, Wright frequently sang background and occasionally lead vocals onstage and in the studio with Pink Floyd (most notably on the songs "Time", "Echoes", and on the Syd Barrett composition "Astronomy Domine").

Heard some bad news
It seems that three of the members of one of my favorite bands - The Random Ninjas - have left the band. It is always sad yet understandable to see a parting of the ways with independent bands. I just wish each of the members much success in their professional and personal lives. I may not ever know the reason why but just hope that it all works out (which it usually do)

Funny thing is when I looked them up online I realize that I've heard them before. This song was used in a drama I watched. Now if I can only remember which one

Music & Politics
Heart have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Republican Party in the US after controversial Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin used their song during her appearance at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday (September 3).
Heart singers Ann and Nancy Wilson say that the Republicans did not ask for permission to use their track ‘Barracuda’. The song is unofficially the theme for Palin, who was nicknamed ‘Sarah Barracuda’ when she played basketball in high school.

Dave Stewart's thoughts on his song American Prayer
Earlier this year when I was recording American Prayer, a song I originally co-wrote with Bono, the phrase, "When you get to the top of the mountain, remember me" seemed to take on a whole new resonance, given the inspirational candidacy of Barack Obama. The song always contained one of my favorite passages from Dr. King, which was hauntingly delivered the night before he was assassinated. King says: "I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land!" People long for a connection— whether it is to music, to their country, or to a big idea. Regardless of what happens in November, Senator Obama has reminded millions of people that they have the power to connect to bigger ideas. He is, in essence, the embodiment of a new anthem for change. He has continued King's narrative from what was once thought of as a dream to a reality. I find it especially relevant that Barack Obama will accept the Democratic Party Nomination for President 45 years to the day of King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
When we were originally writing the song, Bono was crafting the words in a way that would make people think about the fact that 'America' as a concept was a truly great idea, based on the bedrock of equality. I find it more pertinent than ever to release it now; to the moment America finds itself in, daring to re-imagine itself and its place in the world.
When I set out to make a video for the new version of this song, I wanted to honor all of those millions of people, especially young people, who are, for the first time, feeling empowered to voice their beliefs. I wanted to capture how Obama's message of change has echoed across the broad fabric of what is America. To do that, we've cast the film with an eclectic array of personalities, including Forest Whitaker, Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Cyndi Lauper, Barry Manilow, Joan Baez, Macy Gray and Joss Stone. They appear alongside veterans, teachers and everyday citizens— all of whom have been touched by this simple idea of change. As an Englishman, I'm not an expert in all the intricate details of American politics. But as an artist, I understand how rare it is to inspire a connection to a bigger idea or purpose. This video isn't so much an endorsement of Barack Obama as much as it is a celebration of all those who have picked up a sign, who have registered to vote and are working to make the world a better place. So as Senator Barack Obama ascends to the mountain top, let us not forget all of the others who for the past 40 years have sung anthems of change to make this moment possible.

Dave Stewart's American Prayer Lyrics
LYRICS
This is my American Prayer
This is my American Prayer
This is the time to finish what you started
And this is no time to dream
This is the room
We can turn off the dark tonight
Maybe then we might see
American Prayer
American Prayer
And this is the ground
That keeps our feet from getting wet
And this is the sky over our head
And what you see depends on where you stand
And how you jump will tell you where you're gonna land
American Prayer
American Prayer
My oh my
Couldn't get much higher
Lets not kick out the darkness
Make the light brighter
And these are the hands
What are we gonna build with them?
This is the church you can't see
Give me your tired, your poor and huddled masses
You know they're yearning to breathe free
This is my American Prayer
American Prayer
American Prayer
When you get to the top of the mountain
Will you tell me what you see
If you get to the top of the mountain
Remember me

This Creed Song has been stuck in my head the past few days
"With Arms Wide Open"
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything ...oh yeah
With arms wide open..wide open
[Guitar Break]
If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open...
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything..oh yeah
With arms wide open....wide open
